FRAUD PREVENTION
Take steps to protect yourself during this time. Document damage and contact your insurance company to start the claims process, and only work with licensed and insured companies or individuals. Be mindful of anyone who wants payment upfront before any work is done or if a contract has not been signed. Nonprofits and volunteer organizations may offer help and will typically be branded and, in a group, not just individuals. Be wary of anyone offering you a “great deal” or a “break” when it comes to a cost. If you feel you may have been a victim of a scam, please contact our Member Solution Center immediately.
